What do you know about that?
Tucked inside Ruby Red’s BBQ is a feature that often stops guests in their tracks — a handcrafted wall that looks like it was lifted straight from a country stable. Known around here as the Horse Wall, this structure was built to resemble a row of authentic horse corrals, complete with drop-down steel feed slots, weathered stall doors, and the kind of hardware and tack you’d find in a working barn.
Each stall carries the name of a famous historical horse — Comanche, Marengo, and Traveller — reminders of loyalty, courage, and endurance. On the doors, you’ll notice a polite little sign asking guests not to feed the horses, a wink of humor that adds to the wall’s charm and realism.
The forged RR branding irons attached to each door, ties this piece to the larger identity of Ruby Red’s — the same branding mark found on the full-size bull “Ember Firestarter” that guards our patio outside. Every detail, from the vintage padlocks (one locked, one open — a quiet nod to the choices and opportunities in life) to the upside-down horseshoes hung along the frame, was placed with purpose.
The Horse Wall isn’t just decoration — it’s a story built in wood and steel, a salute to craftsmanship and the spirit of imagination that runs through Ruby Red’s. Like so many touches in our restaurant, it invites guests to pause, smile, and wonder.
As Willy Wonka once said,
“There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination.”
“Steve, the staff, the atmosphere, and food was incredible tonight. My team of volunteers, friends, candidates and my partner in our future non-profit had a surprise party for my 57th birthday. They all knew that Ruby Red's is my favorite restaurant. The staff was absolutely on point with their service as always. Food is first class. Thank you Ruby Red's for adding such tremendous value to my life and making it such a memorable night. From the first time my family and I walked into Ruby Red's back in July of 2021, Steve came up and introduced himself to my family and me. Truly he and his staff create such a wonderful experience and have built a community that will lead you back for many more memorable times. Highly recommend.”

Meet Chef Jolene Cormier, one of the talented hands behind our kitchen at Ruby Red’s BBQ. Jolene prepares many of our from-scratch sides and desserts, adding the homemade flavor our guests love — from buttery cornbread to creamy coleslaw and perfectly baked sweets.
Originally from Springfield, Illinois, Jolene now calls La Mirada home. She loves the beauty of all four seasons back in Illinois and brings that same appreciation for nature and balance into her work and life.
Outside the kitchen, Jolene enjoys gardening, running, and working out, and says her biggest goal is to stay healthy and be the best mom she can be. She loves the teamwork and caring atmosphere at Ruby Red’s and says, “Everyone here truly cares about their work and each other.”
If she ever won the lottery, Jolene would buy a home in La Mirada — because community means everything to her.
We’re proud to have Jolene on our Ruby Red’s team — her heart, talent, and homemade touch make every meal special.
MENU HIGHLIGHT
Cookies may seem simple, but like every classic, they have a story. The first American cookie recipes go back to the 1700s — hand-mixed, oven-baked, and made from honest ingredients. They weren’t mass-produced or overly sweetened; they were homemade treats meant to bring people together at the table. That’s the spirit we’ve kept alive at Ruby Red’s BBQ.
Our cookies are made to order from our original recipes, served warm right out of the oven. Each one is crafted from real butter, real sugar, and real eggs — never oil, corn syrup, or artificial fillers. You can taste the difference from the very first bite: soft in the center, crisp on the edges, rich with flavor and nostalgia.
We bake up favorites like Texas Chocolate Chunk, Lemon Blueberry, Snickerdoodle, Molasses, and Peanut Butter Kiss — all built on the same foundation of whole-food ingredients and pure goodness. They don’t taste fake, spongy, or processed — they taste like the cookies your grandmother made, only better.
For the perfect ending, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and let it melt into the warm cookie beneath. Just remember to order them at the start of your meal — it takes us about fifteen minutes to bake them to perfection.
At Ruby Red’s BBQ, our cookies aren’t just dessert — they’re comfort, nostalgia, and craftsmanship all in one bite.
